Production Facilities and Technical Capabilities :

International's main production facility is located in Manila, Philippines. name of the production facility is Datascope Communications (PI), Inc. The facility is equipped to key from microfilm, microfiche, digital images and paper. It operates under the SCO-UNIX operating system using 486 servers and 8088's as terminals. The data entry software is licensed from Viking Computer Services of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In addition to the data entry staff, HDEP maintains a staff of five full time programmers who work with "C" and UNIX. HDEP International's facility is equipped with multiple imaging stations. These stations are used to support the creation of text plus image databases, like electronic technical manuals, which will be made available on CD-ROM.

While production keying is done in Manila, Philippines, HDEP International's research and development work is carried out in the United States. HDEP is currently developing specialized software to incorporate optical character recognition (OCR) into production data entry. HDEP is also working to develop economical methods to digitize microfilm and index the scanned images.
